Stretch fabrics – no mystery!

Hi All. Just picked up some lovely jersey fabrics – plain and prints.

I feel inspired to make a few tube dresses – nice and cosy for the winter worn with boots and woolly tights. I‘ll post some pics when I’ve made them.

Stretch jersey fabric is not as difficult to sew as you might think.  Some people seem to have a bit of a phobia about working with anything stretchy, but as long as you use the correct stitches, needles and threads it isn’t bad at all!   I currently run a few courses that incorporate different types of stretch fabrics, for instance my Stretch Top Workshop; Knicker Making (where you have an option of using stretch or woven fabrics); and my Child’s Fleece Top Workshop.

Have a look at the website www.seweasybristol.com

Please let me know if you are interested in doing a course that I don’t currently run – any suggestions would be very welcome.

As promised, the pics of my lovely fleece jacket.  I’m really pleased with it.  The asymmetrical front and hemline make it look quite unusual.

The big pleated collar keeps the cold out on these cold wintry days.

You can make one too on my ‘Fun Fur or Fleece Jacket’ 2-day workshop.  Why not try it?

Welcome to my new site

Happy New Year to you all!

Just had a fab few days in Polperro, Cornwall, celebrating the onset of 2015 and re-charging the batteries ready to deliver my exciting sewing courses.

Welcome to my brand-new website.  I hope you like it.  It was created by my lovely and very talented nephew Benjamin Brooks.  Thank you Ben – you’re a Star!

I hope you all like the new website.

Take a look and get your creative juices flowing.  You might feel inspired to come along and do one of my workshops.  I have new dates for the New Year.  All the old favourites are still there – Bra-Making; Dress Making; Pattern Cutting etc. with some fantastic new ones thrown in.

I have a lovely pattern for an asymmetrical jacket made out of Fleece or Fun-Fur.  That will keep you cosy on these chilly winter days. I’ve just bought some gorgeous green Fleece fabric to make mine from.  Will post a pic. when it’s done.  Why not come along to one of my workshops and make one for yourself?

Also, there is a one-day workshop to make a child’s Fleece Top.  I have just made one for my Grandson.  It looks fab made from this funky piratey skull print fleece.

Don’t forget though – you can always come along for one-to-one tuition with me.  Contact me and let me know what you would like to learn.  If there is a subject that I don’t currently offer, again contact me – I am open to suggestions for new courses.

I look forward to hearing from you.
